This Georgian folk art apple corer combines treen and bone construction in cream and dark brown tones, featuring a carved terminal shaped as a clenched fist above a wooden sleeve and an engraved collar marked with the initials EM in red pigment. Hand-carved chip decoration, stippled dot patterns, and visible age-related surface wear define the antique piece, which measures 13 cm in length. Collectors display such tactile kitchenalia on a sideboard top or within a cabinet amongst traditional treen collections. The small tool integrates naturally into a rustic farmhouse interior, resting on open shelving or a display tray as a decorative conversation piece representing historical domestic utensils.

An antique bone apple corer, often referred to as an apple scoop, was a personal utensil traditionally used in the 18th and 19th centuries to scoop out soft fruit flesh.

Antique apple scoops were commonly crafted from animal bone, horn, ivory, or dense hardwoods like boxwood or fruitwood, often featuring hand-carved decorative handles or engraved initials.

Authentic examples display natural wear, hand-carved irregular detail, surface patination from age and handling, and organic grain or marrow pores within bone elements.

These small folk art items are frequently displayed within shadow boxes, arranged inside glass cloches, or placed on decorative trays alongside other antique kitchenalia.

Keep the item in a climate-controlled environment away from direct sunlight, and gently clean it with a soft dry cloth without immersing bone or wood in water.
