Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Patented in 1813 by Charles James Mason in Staffordshire, England, ironstone china was developed as a durable, heavy vitreous stoneware alternative to imported Chinese porcelain, frequently decorated with Chinoiserie and Imari patterns.

Ironstone was manufactured from slag, flint, feldspar, and clay, creating a dense ceramic body resistant to chipping. Designs were typically transfer-printed before being hand-coloured with enamel pigments and finished with gilded accents.

Authentic Regency pieces usually feature impressed or printed backstamps such as Masons Patent Ironstone China, possess a noticeable weight, display a pale bluish tint in the glaze, and show visible hand-painted brushwork on overglaze enamels.

Platters can be mounted on a wall using wire hangers to create a plate gallery, positioned upright on a plate stand atop a sideboard, or laid flat as a central decorative dish on a dining table or console.

Clean gently by hand using warm water and a neutral soap, avoiding abrasive sponges, soaking, or harsh chemical detergents that could wear down the gilded details and overglaze enamel pigments.
