This large nineteenth-century Victorian partners writing table is made from rich mahogany with a warm brown timber colour and a faded tan leather inset top. The surface includes a tooled border framed by a moulded edge and four drawers fitted with flush brass handles positioned across the sides. The sturdy base is supported by fluted turned legs with reeded detail that terminate in brass castors, showing practical design influences associated with Gillows. The piece measures 76.5 cm high, 160 cm wide and 107 cm deep. It functions as a substantial working desk suitable for placement in a traditional home study, private library or executive office where workspace access from both sides is required.

Designed during the 19th century, a partners writing table is a double-sided desk created to allow two people to work opposite one another, typically featuring matching drawers on both sides.

Victorian desks were predominantly constructed using dense hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, frequently fitted with gilt-tooled leather writing inserts and solid brass hardware.

Authentic pieces feature hand-dovetailed drawer joints, original brass castors, turned or fluted legs, and natural age-related character to the timber frame and leather insert.

Position the table centrally within an office or library room to highlight its double-sided design, pairing it with contemporary desk accessories and classic leather seating.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft cloth, nourish the wood with natural beeswax polish, and clean the leather top gently using dedicated leather conditioner while keeping the piece away from direct heat sources.
