This nineteenth-century Regency dining table is constructed from mahogany with a warm brown timber colour and finished with a polished, reflective surface. The top has rounded corners, clean lines, and rests on three pedestal bases featuring turned reeded columns and outswept sabre legs with carved details at the joints. The legs terminate in brass castors with small wheels visible at the base of each foot. The table measures 70.5 cm high, 137 cm wide, and 256.5 cm deep overall, providing substantial surface area for large dining rooms and formal entertaining spaces. Designed for residential dining rooms, this grand table seats twelve to fourteen people comfortably for dinner parties and family meals. The three modular sections lock together to create a continuous surface for serving food and hosting guests. The sturdy pedestal construction allows generous legroom underneath, while the smooth wooden top wipes clean easily after use. The warm timber tones coordinate well with traditional sideboards, cabinets, and dining chairs in formal interior schemes.

Originating in early 19th-century Britain, Regency dining tables are defined by classical proportions, elegant pedestal bases, and high-quality hardwoods such as mahogany. They frequently featured multi-pillar designs with drop-in leaves to accommodate large dinner parties.

Solid mahogany and fine veneers were the predominant materials, valued for their durability and rich grain. Pedestal bases were typically supported by reeded or swept legs terminating in brass cap castors.

Look for hand-carved joinery, original brass hardware with authentic patination, and secondary woods such as pine or oak in internal frameworks. Genuine pieces often show hand-planed surfaces and traditional brass clip connectors.

Balance the substantial dark timber by pairing the table with minimalist dining chairs or modern upholstered seating. Keep table decorations simple, such as a single sculptural ceramic vase or clean linen runners, to highlight the natural wood grain.

Protect the surface from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight using felt-backed mats. Clean regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing gently along the direction of the grain.
