FAQs

Originating in late 19th-century Parisian cafes, French bistro tables were designed as compact, durable outdoor seating solutions featuring heavy cast iron bases and weather-resistant marble tops.

Authentic examples typically combine a polished or honed natural marble slab with a heavy cast iron frame, often joined with iron stretchers or cross-bracing for structural support.

Original pieces feature genuine aged patina on the cast iron, authentic surface wear or light staining on the natural marble top, and foundry marks or stamps near the base or frame.

Position the table in a sunlit breakfast nook, conservatory, or kitchen corner paired with modern dining chairs or bentwood seating to create a balanced, eclectic aesthetic.

Clean the marble top using a pH-neutral cleaner to prevent etching, wipe away acidic spills immediately, and treat the cast iron base with wax to preserve its original surface and prevent active oxidation.
