Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian freestanding cutlery cabinet comes in dark brown mahogany with brass castors, brass hinges, and a key. The piece rests on tapered legs with carved leaves, matching the leaf carving on the front frieze, and shows vertical fluted mouldings along the apron. Inside the hinged lid and the main compartment, a fitted purple velvet interior holds 147 pieces of silver-plated EPNS flatware marked Viners A1, alongside Sheffield-made stainless deluxe knives with ivorine handles and two lift-out compartments. The cabinet stands at a convenient height for everyday access to tableware, making it suitable for placement in an empty corner of a dining room or living area where hosting dinner parties calls for well-organised cutlery within easy reach.

A standing canteen of cutlery is a purpose-built piece of furniture, popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries, designed to store and display a complete set of flatware within tailored fabric-lined compartments.

These cabinets are typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, fitted with brass hinges and handles, and lined with velvet or felt to protect silver or silver-plated items.

Look for traditional construction techniques such as hand-cut dovetail joints, period hallmarks or makers stamps on the silver pieces, original lock mechanisms, and light natural wear consistent with timber age.

A freestanding cutlery table serves as an occasional accent piece along a dining room wall, in a hallway, or in an open-plan area, functioning as a compact side table when closed.

Dust the exterior timber with a soft cloth and apply beeswax sparingly. Store flatware inside the fabric lining in low-humidity conditions and polish silver using specialised non-abrasive products.
