This early 19th-century Scandinavian drum table operates as a centre table in the 19th-century style. It exhibits a warm golden brown colour derived from burr maple timber, complemented by brass castors. The circular top features segmented veneer with an inlaid central roundel, whilst the frieze incorporates drawers with ebonised turned knob handles, sitting above a central lower shelf and quadruped splayed legs. The piece measures 70.5 cm high, 110 cm wide, and 110 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this table functions effectively in the centre of a foyer, serving as a display surface or a striking architectural focal point. The substantial round top provides generous surface area for decorative objects or floral arrangements, while the lower shelf offers additional display capacity. The sturdy splayed legs ensure stability on floor surfaces, and the integrated castors permit straightforward repositioning within the space.

A drum table, also known as a rent table, is a circular table introduced in the late 18th century featuring a deep apron containing multiple drawers, supported by a central pedestal or splayed legs.

Craftsmen frequently utilised highly figured native hardwoods such as burr maple, burr birch, and pine substrates, often embellished with delicate inlay and brass castors.

Authentic pieces display natural veneer shrinkage, hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, irregularities in the figure of the burr, and original patination on the timber and hardware.

Place the table as a focal centrepiece in an entrance hall or expansive living area, pairing its rich wood tones with contemporary ceramics or refined table lamps to highlight its geometric form.

Maintain stable humidity levels to prevent veneer lifting, keep the surface out of direct sunlight to protect the natural finish, and clean gently using a high-quality beeswax polish applied along the grain.
