The House of Antiques has dated these Brass Coffin Stand Tables to the 1910s.
Originally used within the funeral trade, the stands are made from brass, with one engraved “R. McDougall & Co Ltd”, presumably the funeral directors to whom they once belonged. The two stands are individually stamped “2” and “3” at the top, adding another intriguing detail to their history.
Now given an entirely new purpose, they make wonderfully distinctive side or lamp tables. Unusual, certainly, but still elegant in our humble opinion — and guaranteed to be a real talking point in any interior.
