Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This unusual Art Deco brass wall hanging bracket dates from circa 1920s to 1930 and follows an Egyptian revival style. Formed from good quality cast brass, it has a gold colour with a lightly polished finish displaying an original patina with wear and marks commensurate with its age. The design shows a stylised ram head with intricately fluted, curling horns, openwork fretwork, and two fixing plates containing four screw holes. A terminal swivel hook hangs from the underside via a turned collar and decorative hardware loop. Measuring 29 cm high, 5 cm wide, and 14 cm deep, it is well suited for installation on a narrow wall space in a hall to hold keys, or alternatively used for suspending a small lantern.

FAQs

Art Deco metalwork brackets from the 1920s and 1930s feature bold geometric shapes, stylized animal or natural motifs, and streamlined architectural curves, moving away from organic Victorian forms toward modernized symmetry.

Period wall brackets were primarily constructed from cast brass, bronze, or cast iron using sand-moulding techniques, often finished with chasing or polishing to highlight fine surface relief.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished casting seams, natural age-related oxidisation in deeper recesses, period-appropriate mounting holes, and substantial weight characteristic of solid cast brass.

An antique wall bracket can be mounted in an entryway, alcove, or hallway to support a hanging lantern, a trailing houseplant, or a decorative glass pendant light.

Maintain cast brass by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth; avoid harsh chemical polishes if retaining natural patina is preferred, or apply microcrystalline wax to protect the metal surface.
