A bushel balance is a precision scientific measuring instrument historically used to determine the specific density and weight of grain, such as wheat or barley, per volumetric bushel.

These measuring sets were typically crafted from solid brass due to its corrosion resistance and stability, often accompanied by wooden strikers and calibrated brass weights.

Authentic 19th-century balance sets feature stamped verification marks, maker initials, numerical weight designations, age-appropriate surface oxidisation, and hand-fitted brass components.

Antique balance sets are frequently styled as curio display objects on executive office desks, library bookshelves, or mantelpieces to add historical texture and warm metallic accents.

Keep brass balance sets clean by dusting with a dry, lint-free cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that strip historical patina and original verification stamps.
