Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Royal Doulton began producing decorative ceramic figures in Burslem, England, during the late nineteenth century. The introduction of the HN series in 1913 established a standardised numbering system for their hand-painted bone china figures, which featured designs by prominent sculptors throughout the twentieth century.

Traditional English figurines are crafted primarily from fine bone china, a combination of china clay, china stone, and calcined bone ash. This composition allows for delicate details, translucency, and structural strength after kiln firing, followed by hand-applied glazes and enamel painting.

Authentic pieces typically feature the printed Royal Doulton backstamp on the underside of the base. This mark usually includes the crown logo, the item name, and a unique HN reference number, often accompanied by hand-painted painter marks or impressed date codes.

Ceramic figurines can be displayed as focal accents on mantelpieces, bookshelves, or sideboards. Grouping figures by colour palette or placing them inside glass display cabinets creates a curated look that balances traditional craftsmanship with modern interior styling.

Dusting should be conducted using a soft, dry brush or microfibre cloth to prevent scratching. For deeper cleaning, mild soapy lukewarm water can be applied carefully with a soft sponge, ensuring water does not enter any unglazed firing holes.
