Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Founded in 1921 on the island of Murano, Venice, by Paolo Venini and Giacomo Cappellin, the Venini glassworks became a pioneering force in 20th-century decorative art. The workshop collaborated with leading architects and designers to modernise traditional Venetian glassblowing, introducing bold colours, clean geometric forms, and innovative surface textures.

Mid-century Italian glassmakers used high-purity silica sand combined with metallic oxides to achieve distinct colours, such as iron or chromium oxides for green hues. Techniques like pulegoso involve adding chemicals to the molten batch to generate dense micro-bubbles, creating a textured, opaque visual effect within the thick-walled glass.

Authentic pieces often feature acid-stamped signatures on the base, such as venini murano italia, or original paper foil labels, though these may wear away over time. Genuine items display refined proportions, precise rim finishing, a hand-ground pontil mark on the underside, and characteristic weight consistent with hand-blown lead-free soda-lime glass.

Small art glass vessels function well as functional vide-poches on a console table, desk, or bedside unit to hold keys and small items. Their vibrant colour and solid geometry also make them suitable for layering atop stacked coffee table books or displaying alongside neutral ceramic accents on open shelving.

Hand wash glass items individually using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, avoiding abrasive pads or harsh chemical cleaners. Dry immediately with a soft lint-free cloth to prevent water spots, and keep glass out of direct sunlight to protect surrounding surfaces from focused light refraction.
