A George III demi-lune table is an 18th-century semi-circular table designed to sit flush against a wall. The style is characterised by neoclassical proportions, flame mahogany veneers, and straight tapered legs often finishing in spade feet.

Primary timbers included solid Cuban or West Indian mahogany, frequently paired with figured mahogany veneers on top surfaces and aprons. Secondary timbers for framing included pine, oak, or ash, alongside hand-forged iron or wooden pegs for joinery.

Authentic pieces feature hand-sawn timber marks, irregular hand-cut dovetails on internal framing, and evidence of shrinkage along the grain over time. The underside should show natural wood oxidation and unrefined construction compared to polished exterior surfaces.

A pair of demi-lune tables can be positioned on either side of an architectural feature, such as a fireplace or doorway, to create symmetry. Alternatively, the two semi-circular tables can be pushed together to form a single round centre table.
