Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This early 19th-century Regency drum table is an occasional piece constructed from painted wood, leather, and metal. The round table top has a brown leather inset surface surrounded by an off-white painted wooden rim. Below the top, the frieze contains multiple drawers fitted with small turned dark wooden knobs, bordered by painted green line details. The central pedestal rests on a turned stem with three splayed legs and scrolled feet. The painted finish shows visible wear, rubbing, and aging across the off-white and green surfaces. Practical for placement in a living room, study, or hallway, this drum table offers surface space and drawer storage. The dimensions measure 94 cm in diameter and 75 cm in height. The proportions make it suitable as a centre table or writing desk alternative within a traditional interior setting.

FAQs

A drum table, historically referred to as a rent table, is a circular table with a deep apron housing multiple drawers mounted upon a central turned pedestal support.

These tables were constructed using solid hardwoods such as mahogany or pine, frequently featuring gilt-tooled leather inset surfaces, turned wooden knobs, and painted or veneered finishes.

Authentic Regency era pieces feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joinery, genuine surface craquelure or age-related paint distress, original brass or timber hardware, and natural wear patterns on the leather insert.

Position the table as a focal centrepiece in an entryway, hallway, or study, contrasting its historic patinated finish with contemporary architectural lighting and minimalist decorative accessories.

Dust painted surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth avoiding liquid cleaners, and treat the leather top periodically with a specialized hide wax to preserve flexibility and prevent cracking.
