Description

A lovely antique Edwardian inlaid mahogany side table, made in England and dating from around the 1900-1910 period.

It is of superb quality and is a very useful size, perfect for use an occasional lamp table, or a small console / entry table. The rectangular top has a beautifully cross banded edge, this has two drawers also with cross banded edges, brass handles and fine, hand cut dovetailed joints. There is a useful lower tier, the back of this is nicely polished so it can be used as a free standing item.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian furniture, produced between 1901 and 1910, is known for lighter proportions, revived 18th-century classical forms, and delicate wood inlays compared to heavier Victorian styles.

These tables were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or rosewood, often featuring satinwood line inlay, brass drop handles, and hand-cut dovetail drawer joints.

Authentic pieces typically display fine boxwood or satinwood stringing, smooth hand-finished drawer interiors, natural timber grain variations, and cast brass hardware showing slight patina.

Position the table alongside a tailored sofa or within a hallway setting to create a visual contrast between historic wood craftsmanship and contemporary upholstery.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish periodically along the grain, keeping the wood away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent splitting.
