A fine Royal Worcester dessert dish produced in 1901 and decorated in the factory''s celebrated Blue Scale pattern. Made in bone china, this elegant oval dish belongs to a prestigious series inspired by the finest First Period Worcester and Dr Wall period masterpieces of the eighteenth century.
 
The rich underglaze cobalt Blue Scale ground is combined with rococo gilding and finely painted reserves depicting exotic birds, butterflies and insects. The underside bears a puce Royal Worcester mark dated by the factory system of points together with pattern number 2525.
 
The exceptional quality of the bird painting recalls the work of leading Royal Worcester artists of the period, including George Johnson, who became renowned for painting fancy birds on the Blue Scale ground.
