Murano Scrambled Glass Paperweight C 1930

A very attractive Murano glass paperweight produced on the Italian island of Murano, renowned for its paperweights and handmade studio glass.

This unusual example is made from heavy, clear glass with a kaleidoscope of inclusions of scrambled glass fragments. It is mostly of different brightly coloured glass ribbon twists with gold edging alongside white cotton twists, which are similar to the decoration seen in good 18th century wine glass stems.

A most unusual and highly decorative paperweight in very good condition.
