Palais Royal souvenirs refer to luxury novelty items, sewing accessories, and trinkets sold around the Palais Royal gardens in Paris during the 18th and 19th centuries, typically crafted from high-end materials such as mother of pearl, tortoiseshell, and gilded brass.

These items were predominantly constructed using carved nacre or mother of pearl panels, supported by gilded bronze or pinchbeck metal frames, often featuring intricate repousse or filigree detailing.

Authenticity is determined by the quality of hand-carved nacre, handmade hinges, traditional casting methods of the period, and the presence of natural ageing and wear consistent with nineteenth-century French manufacture.

These small decorative items are typically displayed on a mantelpiece, inside a glass-fronted cabinet, or on a dressing table as part of a curated collection of historical curiosities.

Maintenance requires keeping items away from direct sunlight and high humidity, cleaning gently with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth, and avoiding abrasive polishes that can damage the delicate nacre surface or remove the gilding.
