An 18th-century Dutch Rococo free-standing side table constructed from walnut and fruitwood with a warm brown colour and a custom-made protective glass panel. The design incorporates a raised and scrolled gallery rim, a single long drawer fitted with original gilt brass drop handles and a lock escutcheon holding a tasselled key, and cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. The exterior displays intricate floral and bird fruitwood marquetry inlays with lighter and darker tones across the surfaces, including scrolling motifs down the leg frames. Measuring 76.2 cm high, 99 cm wide and 69 cm deep, the table functions as a practical centre table, hall table or side table in an empty corner of a home. It provides a sturdy surface and enclosed storage space while maintaining a freestanding profile that suits traditional room layouts.

It is a piece of accent furniture crafted in the Netherlands during the 1700s, featuring detailed wood inlays depicting floral, foliage, or bird patterns.

These pieces typically feature walnut or mahogany veneers with marquetry created using fruitwoods, holly, boxwood, and occasionally brass or bone accents.

Authentic period marquetry displays subtle variations in hand-cut veneer thickness, hand-dovetailed drawer joints, and natural age shrinkage on underlying oak or pine carcasses.

Position the piece as an accent feature against a plain neutral wall or beside modern upholstered seating to highlight the contrast between elaborate woodwork and clean contemporary lines.

Dust regularly with a dry soft cloth, apply beeswax sparingly, and keep the table in a temperature-controlled environment away from direct heat sources to prevent veneer lifting.
