Offered without chips, cracks, or restoration this rare survivor of over 150 years is in mint condition with no abrasions or rubbing due to over cleaning.

Imari porcelain originates from Arita, Japan, and achieved international acclaim during the Edo period for its signature combination of underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron-red pigments, intricate enamel work, and gilded detailing.

Traditional Imari chargers are crafted from fine kaolin porcelain clay, decorated with an underglaze cobalt blue wash, high-fired, and subsequently painted with overglaze enamels and gold leaf before secondary low-temperature firings.

Authentic pieces feature hand-painted design variations, subtle spur marks or imperfections on the base, deep underglaze blue tone, rich textural overglaze enamels, and minor surface wear to the gold leaf accenting.
