This large Victorian mahogany centre table dates from 1880 and has a warm brown colour with visible grain. The piece consists of an octagonal top with boxwood line inlays above an X-frame cross stretcher, turned support columns, shaped legs, and brass castors. Surface wear includes minor marks on the timber top. The table measures 76 cm high, 152 cm wide, and 152 cm deep. In a home today, this substantial table serves well as an impressive centre table in a hallway or library, or as a dining table providing comfortable seating. The architectural base offers stability while the distinctive octagonal shape creates a strong focal point in a traditional interior setting.

Designed to stand in the middle of a room or hall, Victorian centre tables served as central visual anchors for displaying books, flowers, or decorative objects during the nineteenth century.

These pieces were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany, rosewood, or walnut, featuring turned supports, hand-carved legs, mortise and tenon joinery, and brass castors.

Authentic Victorian mahogany pieces display rich grain patterns, hand-cut joinery, original brass fittings, and natural wear patterns consistent with nineteenth-century craftsmanship.

Position the table in an entrance hall or spacious living area to create an architectural focal point, topped with a large ceramic vessel, sculptural objects, or art books.

Dust regularly with a soft cloth, apply a high-quality beeswax polish twice yearly, and keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking.
