Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An 18th-century oak side table typically features a compact solid oak construction, often incorporating turned baluster legs, a single frieze drawer, and sturdy stretchers around the base. These versatile tables served both utility and decorative purposes in Georgian domestic interiors.

Georgian country furniture was crafted using hand-planed native oak, featuring mortise and tenon joinery secured with wooden pegs. Drawers usually feature hand-cut dovetail joints and wooden runners along the internal carcass sides.

Authentic period pieces show signs of hand-tooling, such as irregular saw marks on the underside, hand-carved wooden pegs flush or slightly raised on the frame, and natural shrinkage across the grain of the top planks over time.

Position the table alongside a sofa as an end table, or place it in an entryway topped with a contemporary ceramic lamp and framed artwork to create a textural contrast between historic timber and modern accents.

Preserve the timber by applying high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing gently along the grain. Keep the table away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent drying out, warping, or fading of the surface patina.
