Victorian novelty items encompass everyday functional objects crafted into playful, whimsical, or unusual shapes, reflecting the eras fascination with industrial ingenuity and decorative design.

Victorian pocket knives typically featured brass, bone, mother-of-pearl, or horn for the handles, paired with high-carbon steel for the folding blades.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate metallurgy, hand-engraved details, natural patination on the brass or steel, and traditional pinned construction without modern synthetic adhesives.

Display small collectables in glass-topped display cases, on stacked books on a coffee table, or atop a mantelpiece as a focal point of curiosity.

Maintain brass by gently dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical polishes to preserve the historical patina, and keep steel blades lightly oiled to prevent oxidation.
