We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Sofa tables emerged during the late 18th century and gained immense popularity during the Regency period in England, specifically designed to stand comfortably in front of or behind a sofa.

These tables are traditionally constructed from dense hardwoods like rosewood or mahogany, featuring mortise and tenon joinery, drop leaves supported by swing brackets, and often brass castors on the feet.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetailing in the drawer construction, natural timber shrinkage, genuine patination, and hand-turned brass fittings rather than modern machine-made screws.

It functions effectively as a slim console against a living room wall or placed centrally behind a sofa, styled minimally with a ceramic lamp or a stack of hardback books to highlight the grain.

Maintain a stable room temperature away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and periodically treat the wood with a high-quality microcrystalline wax to nourish the surface without causing build-up.
