Lincoln Restorations has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
Constructed from solid Oak, it presents a rich, deep patina that has developed over nearly two centuries, showcasing the natural beauty and grain of the wood. The table's surface boasts its original waxed polished finish, which has been lovingly built up over many years, creating a wonderful, lustrous gloss that beautifully highlights the quarter sawn Oak and the character of the timber. The table's design is both elegant and functional, featuring a circular plank top that is remarkably flat and true, without bowing or twisting or open joints. As a testament to its lifelong preservation, the table has some historic Bowties to the underneath of the top which is the traditional way in which to repair open joints in the 4 plank top.

The top is supported by a beautifully turned central pedestal, which sits upon a tri-form base of three graceful sweeping swan neck legs which are without repairs are strengthened by its original wrought iron brace to the underside.

A key feature of this table is its original and fully functional tilt-top mechanism. The table pivots smoothly on its Elm wood pad, and is secured by its original wrought iron latch. This latch, with its beautifully primitive and authentic character, operates effortlessly, allowing the top to be raised and lowered with ease.

The table's condition is fantastic throughout. It is a rare find in such a complete and original state, with no evidence of breaks or loose joints. The timber has aged wonderfully, and the table's surfaces are smooth to the touch, having been polished over the years to a lustrous sheen that highlights the rich variations in the wood's colour texture and lots of original patina. This table has been thoroughly checked over in our workshop, it has been cleaned and waxed ready to be a focal point in any room for many years to come.

Condition and Provenance As an antique, this table does show signs of age and use. While in fantastic condition, expect minor marks consistent with historical pieces. The table is of a great quality and is structurally sound, with no major damage that would detract from its beauty or functionality.
