Charming Early 18th-Century Walnut Lowboy Side Table with Great Patina A delightful early 18th-century George I walnut lowboy side table, circa 1720, of small, elegant proportions and with a superb rich colour and patina. The table features a solid two plank walnut top with beautiful grain and depth of tone, above a single working drawer. The drawer front is fitted with period solid brass shaped handles. Standing on finely turned bulbous legs, united by the original stretchers and terminating in turned feet, this piece retains its original top, rear backboard, legs and stretchers. The frame is traditionally made using mortise and tenon joints secured with pegs, as you would expect of the period. The walnut has developed a wonderfully warm, mellow surface from over three centuries of careful use and polishing, giving the table real depth of character.
