Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Stockman was founded in Paris in 1867 by Frederic Stockman and became world-renowned for crafting handcrafted tailor dummies. Their forms were designed according to exact human proportions and became the standard for haute couture houses and retail displays throughout the twentieth century.

Tailors dummies from this era were typically constructed from a papier-mache or padded torso shell tightly covered in woven linen or cotton canvas. The structure was supported by a solid timber central pole mounted onto a turned wooden tripod base with metal tension keys.

Authentic pieces feature a stencilled or printed maker stamp on the lower front or neck area indicating Stockman Paris along with patent details such as Brevete S.G.D.G. Additionally, examine the turned wooden finial, cast metal adjustment screws, and construction of the wooden base.

An antique mannequin serves as a standalone sculptural feature in modern or traditional interiors, providing height and texture to empty corners or alcoves. It can also be styled as a functional prop for draping scarves, textile collections, or vintage garments.

Keep the mannequin away from direct sunlight and damp environments to prevent fading and mildew. Use a soft brush or vacuum with a brush attachment on low suction to gently remove dust from the fabric, avoiding chemical cleaners or water that could stain the aged linen.
