This eighteenth-century garden planter follows a classical revival style, designed with a round body and a flat base. The construction material is composite stone, displaying a weathered grey colour palette with patches of green moss, white lichen, and natural erosion visible across the surface. A carved foliate leaf rim encircles the top edge, accented by small berry details beneath the leaves. A central relief mask motif appears on the front face, surrounded by low-relief carving wrapping around the vessel. Natural weathering creates textural variations and discoloration on the exterior walls. The item measures 29 cm high, 39 cm wide, and 39 cm deep in practical terms. It functions as a decorative container suitable for positioning beside the front door of a home, or alternatively functions as an accent piece indoors on a console table.

Carved stone garden planters became prominent features in European formal gardens during the 17th to 19th centuries, drawing design inspiration from Classical antiquity and Renaissance revival styles.

Historical garden planters were typically hand-carved from natural stone such as limestone or sandstone, or cast using composite stone mixtures designed to endure exposure to the elements.

Authentic pieces display natural organic weathering, uneven lichen growth, internal soil staining, and subtle hand-carving or casting marks consistent with traditional period manufacturing.

Position the planter as a focal point on a patio, along an entryway path, or atop a console in a conservatory to add texture and historical character to modern spaces.

Remove loose dirt with a soft bristle brush and clean using plain water, avoiding harsh chemicals or high-pressure washing to retain the original aged surface patina and organic lichen.
