Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A bijouterie table, also known as a vitrine table, originated in 18th-century France as a specialised occasional table designed to display small valuables, jewellery, and collectibles securely under a glass top.

These tables are traditionally constructed with fine hardwood veneers such as kingwood or rosewood, fitted with glazed panels and decorated with cast gilt-bronze, also known as ormolu, mounts and escutcheons.

Authentic pieces exhibit characteristic serpentine outlines, slender cabriole legs, hand-cut joinery, high-quality cast ormolu mounts with chased surface detail, and functional locking mechanisms on the hinged glazed lid.

Position the table as a focal accent piece in a drawing room, hallway, or dressing space, utilizing the interior glazed enclosure to present pocket watches, medals, or small decorative curios.

Dust wood veneers regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, clean glass panels by applying liquid cleaner directly to a cloth rather than the frame, and avoid harsh chemicals on gilt-bronze mounts to preserve their original patination.
