This large Victorian meat platter is formed from white earthenware with a glossy ceramic glaze and decorated in traditional blue and white transferware. The piece takes an oval shape featuring a scalloped rim, a detailed lattice border around the edge, and a prominent central floral bouquet motif with accompanying sprays. The glossy white glaze shows light surface craquelure and minor age-related wear typical of antique ceramics. Measuring 5 cm high, 52 cm wide, and 43 cm deep, the platter provides a substantial serving surface for culinary display. Positioned on a dining table or sideboard top, the item brings an authentic English Country House aesthetic to domestic interiors. It serves as a functional serving dish for joints of meat or large portions during family meals, as well as a decorative decorative display piece when placed upright on a dresser or shelf. The blue and white colour scheme coordinates easily with traditional tableware collections and antique kitchenalia while adding period character to contemporary and rustic dining spaces alike.

Transferware refers to glazed earthenware decorated via copperplate printing techniques, which allowed detailed motifs to be efficiently applied to British tableware during the nineteenth century.

These platters were typically produced from earthenware or ironstone ceramics, utilising cobalt oxide blue pigment applied beneath a clear protective glaze.

Authentic period pieces often feature subtle transfer join lines, underglaze colour variations, printed or impressed maker marks on the underside, and natural glaze crazing.

A large platter can be displayed on a sideboard top using a plate stand, placed in a traditional dresser rack, or mounted securely on a dining room wall as decorative art.

Hand washing in warm water with mild dish soap is recommended, avoiding chemical cleaners, abrasive pads, and dishwashers to protect the glaze and body.
