A pair of mahogany side tables by Jean-Joseph Chapuis (1765 - 1864), with grey marble top, mahogany frieze, raised on carved monopodial winged lion support, over shaped plinth base.
Jean-Joseph Chapuis was born in Brussels and trained in Paris to become a master craftsman. This esteemed position entitled him to stamp his furniture with his name. In 1795, Chapuis set up his workshop in his hometown and was active until 1830.
