Capodimonte porcelain traces its origins to the 18th century in Naples, Italy, established by King Charles VII. The factory became renowned for its highly detailed, lifelike sculptural figures and soft-paste porcelain compositions before production methods evolved in subsequent centuries.

Traditional pieces are crafted from fine porcelain or soft-paste ceramic compositions, meticulously hand-modelled and hand-painted with detailed enamel glazes, often incorporating gilt highlights on moulded bases.

Authentic pieces typically feature makers marks such as the blue or stamped Crown over N, hand-painted numbering, exceptional sculptural depth, and fine brushwork distinguishing them from mass-produced replicas.

Such decorative objects work effectively as focal points on mantelshelves, within glass-fronted cabinets, or atop credenzas, adding a layer of classical historical interest to transitional or eclectic spaces.

Antique porcelain should be kept out of direct sunlight to prevent pigment fading and dusted gently with a soft, dry brush. Avoid using water or chemical cleaning agents, particularly on gilt or hand-painted surfaces.
