Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Introduced in 1866, the Snider-Enfield was a British breech-loading rifle system that converted existing muzzle-loading Pattern 1853 Enfield rifles. It utilized a hinged breechblock mechanism invented by Jacob Snider, serving as the standard British infantry longarm until replaced by the Martini-Henry.

Victorian military rifles were typically constructed using full-length walnut stocks, iron or steel barrels and lockplates, and brass for the trigger guards, butt plates, and nose caps. Leather was commonly used for sling accoutrements.

Authentic examples feature specific lockplate markings, such as the crown stamp, date of manufacture, and factory marks like Tower or Enfield. They also display official British military proof marks on the barrel and breech assembly alongside the shoe-style breechblock.

Antique firearms are commonly mounted horizontally on neutral feature walls using minimalist brass or dark metal brackets. They are frequently incorporated into Gentlemans Library or traditional study aesthetics, mounted above mantels or sideboards.

To prevent rust and wood degradation, store firearms in a climate-controlled environment with low humidity. Apply microcrystalline wax to metal components to prevent oxidisation, and treat the walnut stock with neutral natural wax while avoiding synthetic polishes.
