Georgian Mahogany Apothecary Cabinet

A fantastic Georgian mahogany apothecary cabinet with brass carrying handle, two hinged doors containing rows of jars, a long drawer containing scales and weights and an unusual drop compartment which contains three further short drawers, one containing a glass pestle, mortar and medicine cups.
 
The cabinet remains in a wonderfully original condition, left as it was last used. It contains 18 glass bottles, all but one labelled, as well as an unopened bandage, a small ceramic jar of eye ointment and a small folded envelope titled, and with remnants of, ''powdered allum''. Some of the jars remain unopened and sealed with one retaining its original hand written directions for use, others retain remnants of contents. Some bottles bear paper labels from Chichester, West Sussex and Seaton, Devon.
 
The cabinet shows signs of wear commensurate with age, most notably to the extremities where some small losses are present to the lower corners (please see photographs). The pull to one of the ...
