Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Miniature travel games became popular during the 19th and early 20th centuries as tourism grew, allowing travellers to pass the time on long train journeys or steamships.

Traditional dominoes from this era were frequently crafted from carved animal bone or ivory paired with ebony or fruitwood, often housed in sliding wooden boxes.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit natural grain variations in the bone, hand-drilled pips filled with dark pigment, and signs of age-related patina on the enclosing wooden case.

Display the set partially open on a coffee table, bookshelf, or desk to add a layer of historical interest and tactile texture to the room.

Keep the items away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations to prevent the wood from warping and the bone from drying out or cracking.
