Royal Crown Derby Bloor Period Porcelain Figures ‘Jupiter and Juno’, C. 1830

Description

Finely modelled pair from the early Bloor Period (c.1830), re-using Duesbury era moulds but finished in the richer enamels and heavier gilding favoured by Robert Bloor. Jupiter is shown crowned, with thunderbolt and sceptre, attended by the eagle; Juno, crowned and veiled, stands beside her peacock. The vivid palette and gold heightening typify Derby’s luxury output in this period.

Both figures retain bright original colours and gilding. Jupiter: old professional restoration to neck and left arm (elbow). Juno: restoration to neck and head scarf; peacock’s tail reattached; small losses to right index finger and sceptre tip. Displays strongly.
