Antique hand painted porcelain figurine of young woman created by Samson, Edmé et Cie of Paris, France in c. 1860. A beautifully painted figurine depicting a woman in embarrassment covering her face with her hand, the other lifting her dress to cross some obstacle. All the details are meticulously hand-painted, including the floral ornamentation on her dress and the expression on her face. The piece is executed in rich and calm pink and pastel colors with partial gilding. On the underside of the figurine is the Samson mark used on replicas of German porcelain. Samson of Paris is a porcelain manufacturer that was established in Paris, France, in 1845. The company was founded by Edme Samson (1810-1891), who had previously worked at the Sèvres porcelain factory and had extensive knowledge of porcelain production Samson of Paris was known for its reproductions of historic and antique porcelain pieces, as well as for creating new designs inspired by traditional porcelain styles. The company was particularly skilled at creating high quality copies of every kind of porcelain, including Meissen, Chantilly, Chelsea, Derby, and Chinese works. Most of the reproduced pieces copy mid-eighteenth- to early nineteenth-century designs. In addition to their own unique marks, Samson marked their items with symbols very similar to marks seen on the actual original pieces they were copying. They often added the letter “S” or some other sign to indicate that this was a copy. These reproductions were skillfully created and can be difficult to distinguish from the original. The business was successful, and Edme's son Emile Samson joined the family business when it moved to larger premises in the 1860s. The company also worked on special commissions, creating porcelain pieces for prominent figures such as Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie. Samson products have always been favored by collectors and their price increases over time

Condition: the left arm, starting from the elbow is restored. The restoration is done quite well - you can see only if you look closely. Otherwise the figure is in perfect condition.
