Antique hand painted porcelain figurine of young woman created by Samson, Edmé et Cie of Paris, France in c. 1860. A beautifully painted figurine depicting a woman in embarrassment covering her face with her hand, the other lifting her dress to cross some obstacle. All the details are meticulously hand-painted, including the floral ornamentation on her dress and the expression on her face. The piece is executed in rich and calm pink and pastel colors with partial gilding. On the underside of the figurine is the Samson mark used on replicas of German porcelain. Samson of Paris is a porcelain manufacturer that was established in Paris, France, in 1845. The company was founded by Edme Samson (1810-1891), who had previously worked at the Sèvres porcelain factory and had extensive knowledge of porc...
