An antique porcelain figurine in the Derby style, depicting a young boy representing the season of ''Summer'', as part of a set symbolizing the Four Seasons. The piece portrays a barefoot boy dressed in knee-breeches and a white shirt open at the chest. He stands cross-legged, holding a wheat sheaf and sickle in his right hand and a few ears of wheat in his other hand, symbolizing the harvest. Near a tree trunk, a beehive stands with his coat draped over it. The base is modeled with decorative shell and scroll motifs.

The figure is perfectly colored and shows exceptional craftsmanship, demonstrating the extraordinary skill of the artist. The carefully drawn face and details of the clothing are very characteristic of 19th century English porcelain art. Figures such as ''Four Seasons'', ''Five Senses'', and ''Four Elements'' were very popular at the time, and many English companies such as Derby, Bristol, Mason, and others produced similar figures with similar themes.

In the 19th century, the number of porcelain factories in England increased significantly due to technological advancements and growing demand for porcelain products. By the mid-19th century, there were over 50 porcelain factories in England, including both large manufacturers and small workshops. By the late 19th century, many small factories closed due to competition and economic difficulties, but large producers like Worcester, Derby, Minton, and Spode continued to operate. English porcelain from this time was known for its quality and artistic design, and many factories left a significant mark on the history of decorative arts.

Dimensions: height 21.5 cm, width 12 cm, depth 12 cm, weight 621 grams.

Condition: Slight loss of gilding on the base, a small crack on the blade of the sickle that he holds in his hand, otherwise excellent condition with complete preservation of the gilding, paint, and enamel.
