Description

A fine early Derby mirror pair, Patch-mark period, each with leafy bocage and single sconce on an openwork rococo base. Gentleman with bagpipes and hound; lady with mandolin and lamb. Recorded in factory lists as model E13 and discussed by Bradshaw (Derby Porcelain Figures 1750–1848, pp. 96–97). Comparable in the V&A (O335169). Original instruments intact—rare on period examples—showing the quality of Duesbury-era modelling and enamelling.
