Antique Booths “Battersea” Dinnerservice

Manufactured betwen 1917 and 1927 in Tunstall, North Staffordshire ( the potteries).

This service had been produced for Harrods and the service clearly has the backstamp stating :-

Manufactured for Harrods Ltd London.

It also has the recognised Booths “silicon china” backstamp.

Date imprint and pattern number

This service is almost 100years old… and still perfectly useable, however various pieces have signs of use … all noted.

However this does not distract from the overall impact as this is a stunning service.

The floral Decoration has a rich combination of colours and hand gilding.

Some rim gilding is worn , but in the main it is intact.

The transfer decoration is highlighted and hand painted , blues terracotta , greens mauve and lemon.

The plates have a rippled rim and extensive decoration.

23 Dinner/Dessert plates approx 26cm diameter

6 Plates approx 23 cm

5 Shallow bowls approx 26cm diameter

2 open tureens approx 28cm diameter x 12cmtall

2 lidded sauce dishes. 15cm diameter x11cm tall

One has lid knob / handle repair

One has a handle replacement

2 large platters both extensive staining and crazing

38cm x 30cm &. 33cm x 27cm

1 very large lidded tureen.

29cm length x 24cm tall the lid of this tureen has has the knob crude repair

A total of 45 pieces

To be totally transparent

Two platters useable but stained which is visible when not in use

3 lid knobs have had various repairs and whilst the base of all tureens are useable I would not advise using the lid knobs

One tureen has has a replacement handle

One open tureen has base craze …
