We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Folding privacy screens became prominent features in 18th and 19th-century English interiors, serving both functional draft-exclusion roles and decorative purposes. During the Regency period, screens often incorporated textile panels, needlepoint embroidery, or painted canvases framed within polished hardwoods like mahogany or rosewood.

These screens typically featured solid hardwood frames, such as mahogany or walnut, joined with brass hinges. The internal panels were constructed from linen or cotton canvas worked with wool threads in petit point or gros point embroidery techniques.

Authentic Regency pieces exhibit hand-carved wood joinery, original brass dual-directional hinges, and signs of hand-worked textile stitching. Inspecting the reverse side of the panels often reveals uneven hand-stitching and age-appropriate textile fading or oxidisation.

A multi-panel needlepoint screen can be positioned in an open-plan room to define distinct functional zones or placed flat against a neutral wall to serve as a tactile architectural backdrop. Combining dark timber framing with contemporary tailored upholstery creates balanced visual interest.

Display the screen away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber warping and thread fading. Gently clean the textile panels using a soft brush vacuum attachment, and apply beeswax polish periodically to preserve the wooden frame.
