FAQs

Tyrolean regional furniture originates from the Alpine region, traditionally characterised by sturdy solid woods, utilitarian construction with integrated storage solutions, and regional joinery techniques that reflect local alpine craftsmanship.

Makers predominantly used dense regional hardwoods such as walnut, fruitwood, and pine, combined with traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, pegged joints, and hand-forged iron hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-planed surfaces, period-appropriate tool marks, natural oxidisation in the timber, hand-cut joinery, and functional sliding mechanisms or compartment construction consistent with historical production methods.

Balance the heavy visual weight and warm patina of the antique timber by pairing it with clean-lined contemporary seating, minimal accessories, and neutral textiles to create a curated, layered aesthetic.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the wood without damaging the historic finish.
