Royal Worcester Large Porcelain Figure “The Bather Surprised”, Shot Enamel, 1906

Description

A large Worcester porcelain figure “The Bather Surprised”, model 486, finished in the rare Shot Enamel. The model entered production in 1875 (shown at the Paris Exhibition, 1878) after Thomas Brock’s 1868 marble Salmacis, modelled and exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1869; Royal Worcester acquired the original and reproduction rights. The factory reissued the form c.1900–1906 with the Shot Enamel surface to achieve a refined bronze-and-gold appearance. Printed mark WORCESTER SHOT ENAMEL. The technique creates a delicate grain across the glaze, adding texture and depth.

Collecting note: an exhibition-grade Worcester figure with scarce Shot Enamel finish, desirable for scale, finish and condition.

Dimensions: Height 39.8 cm; width 30 cm; depth 17.5 cm; weight 2.645 kg.

Condition: Perfect condition without any damage or restoration.
