Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These Victorian door handles comprise a matched pair of fixtures dating from circa 1890. Each item consists of a vibrant blue cut glass grip with a complex faceted design, supported by ornate cast brass mounting plates at the top and bottom. The metal components exhibit a dark aged brass finish with detailed moulded patterns on the backplates and turned collars flanking the glass sections. Natural wear is visible on both the metal and glass edges, including minor chips and patination consistent with long-term use. Each handle measures 19 cm high by 3 cm wide. In a contemporary interior, these architectural fittings suit restoration projects for period doors, or function as decorative hardware mounted onto custom cabinetry or furniture doors. The combination of colourful transparent glass and antique metalwork provides a practical yet decorative element for domestic settings requiring Victorian or Gothic design details. All structural mounting hardware remains intact, allowing immediate installation or display within a home.

FAQs

Victorian glass door handles are architectural hardware pieces crafted during the late nineteenth century, combining moulded or cut decorative glass grips with brass or cast metal mountings.

These handles typically feature lead crystal or coloured glass grips paired with cast brass, bronze, or iron backplates and mounting collars.

Authentic period pieces often exhibit minor hand-finishing variations, age-appropriate patination or oxidisation on metal components, and heavy hand-cut or pressed glass.

Period door handles can be fitted onto contemporary timber doors, restored pantry doors, or repurposed as decorative hardware on large armoires and cabinetry.

Clean the glass elements using a damp cloth and mild detergent solution, while gently wiping brass mounts to preserve their natural age patina.
