Ernst Bohne Söhne Lace Figural Group With Piano, C.1901.

£750    $1,001    €876
A large and rare four-figure lace porcelain group by Ernst Bohne Söhne, Rudolstadt, c.1901. A refined salon scene: a lady at the piano, a gentleman beside her, and a courting couple, with a red cloak draped across the instrument. The modelling is precise, with expressive faces, elegant gestures and finely painted details enriched with gilding. The base carries the crown over N mark, associated with Ernst Bohne & Söhne and often misattributed to Capodimonte. This mark was used on export porcelain between 1901 and 1920. The additional inscription Made in Germany confirms its export destination at the beginning of the 20th century. Ernst Bohne Söhne, founded in Rudolstadt in the mid-19th century, received international awards in the 1870s and 1880s, and became renowned for ivory imitations, biscuit figures and Dresden-style lace porcelain.
