19th-century German Porcelain Pastoral Figure, Chelsea-derby Style

£180    $240    €210
Late 19th-century German porcelain figure, modelled as a shepherdess with a lamb, in the Chelsea-Derby style of the 18th century. The figure is finely executed with detailed modelling, applied floral decoration, and carefully painted features. The distinctive bright yellow skirt and rococo base are characteristic of German revivalist porcelain of this period. To the rear of the base is a blue underglaze anchor mark, imitating the Chelsea-Derby “gold anchor and D” mark. There is also an impressed circular mark to the underside, likely a standard mould or factory sign of the time. This is a genuine example of German historicist porcelain, produced during the height of the 19th-century fascination with English rococo models. Such figures are of collecting and decorative interest, especially when preserved in good original condition.
