FAQs

Inlaid rosewood tables gained significant popularity during the Victorian and Edwardian periods, where complex marquetry and contrasting wood veneers showcased advanced cabinet-making skills.

These pieces typically feature a solid or veneered timber carcase crafted from dense tropical hardwoods like rosewood, embellished with boxwood or satinwood stringing and supported by turned or cabriole legs.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the hand-cut nature of the inlay, traditional joinery methods such as mortise and tenon, and the natural ageing and patination of the timber.

An antique occasional table provides textural contrast in contemporary spaces, serving effectively as a lamp table beside a sofa or as a standalone accent piece.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent veneer fading, and applying periodic microcrystalline wax polish.
