Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Pembroke table was introduced in 18th-century Britain as a versatile occasional table with drop leaves. Named after the Countess of Pembroke according to historical furniture lore, it was designed for light meals, tea, writing, and bedside use.

Authentic period examples are predominantly constructed from solid mahogany, walnut, or satinwood, often featuring pine or oak secondary woods for drawer linings. The drop leaves are typically supported by wooden fly brackets or hinged supports.

Authentic 19th-century examples feature hand-cut dovetail joints on the frieze drawers, hand-turned legs, and natural patina on the mahogany wood. Original brass or turned wood drawer knobs and evidence of hand-planed timber on the underside also indicate period construction.

A Pembroke table functions well as a sofa end table, hall console, or compact bedside stand in contemporary interiors. The folding leaves allow it to adapt to smaller spaces whilst providing historic timber accents.

Dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the wood grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent cracking or timber shrinkage.
