A good 19th century mahogany snuff box in the form of some bellows. It has a sliding lid with a stop and is decorated with brass pins and an unusual motto to the front ''''From A Friend'''', with the initials BH or RH at the top and MW at the bottom.
Unusually it has a brass end rather than wood, which would have been expensive to make - to replicate a bellows.
Possibly the bellows shaped snuff boxes gave the allusion of blowing away the snuff dust!
It measures 12.6cm l x 6cm w at the widest point.
