Tunbridge ware is a type of decorative woodwork, notably small turned and mosaic items, produced primarily in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Artisans typically utilised a variety of native and exotic woods such as beech, maple, sycamore, and walnut to create contrasting colours and intricate geometric or pictorial patterns.

Authentic pieces often feature microscopic mosaic tesserae or precise wood-turning, occasionally accompanied by printed paper labels, traditional banded decoration, and signs of age-appropriate patination.

These small decorative objects integrate seamlessly into cabinet displays, open shelving, or desk styling as curated conversation pieces celebrating historical craftsmanship.

Keep wooden items out of direct sunlight and away from extreme temperature fluctuations, dusting gently with a soft dry cloth without applying modern liquid polishes.
